The Gulf You Are Looking For Does Not Exist...

These last couple of weeks the main topic of discussion among Iranian webloggers has been the Persian Gulf/Arabian Gulf issue. I guess we are all just so pissed off by all the ignorant moves made to wipe out our historical identity from the face of middle-east; a move by the West which is very much backed up by the Arabs. They would be more than happy to see how Iran is being weakened more and more because otherwise they have nothing worthy to say about what lies in their past and present.

I really don’t understand what is a country like Iran doing in the middle of a bunch of Arab countries! No seriously, we are so different, historically, culturally and socially and yet they managed to conquer us back then and tried to ruin whatever Iran stands for. Of course, they haven’t been entirely successful but this religion generally practised in our country is their doomed effect: the religion that I think is the root of our problems. The religion which is in contrast with who we really are. Our background and civilization was and still is way more advanced than what they forced on us as the ultimate religion.

Although Iranian theologists have tried to Iranize Islam in Shiism but there was only so much they could do. If there would ever be an objective study on Iranian and other Islamic countries in the region the result would show the astonishing difference. Because what they are actually practising as Islam is way too anti-human right and yet we see reports of mischief from Iran and only Iran! It’s ridiculous how subjectively we are judged. Americans in particular tend to act upon their ever so ignorant and self-absorbed nature and think of Iran as just another Arab state, some don’t even know the difference between Iran and Iraq. Could a nation be any more ignorant?!!!

Now what National Geographic has done is in the same line of work that has been and is being done consecutively to show how weak and faded Iran is in the region. I understand how our regime is nowhere near perfect and how it’s messing up our own country by being so careless and stupid but this does not mean that an international reference book is entitled to allegedly sell itself to Arabs and distort the history! I really wonder who these people think we are; a bunch of idiots who do not understand what an atlas means. An atlas is a reference, you are not supposed to state what different countries are CLAIMING on it!!!! For example if we decide to call California a state OCCUPIED (!!) by Americans but CLAIMED by Iranians would you bring that in the atlas?! And we all know how big the population of Iranians leaving in this state is, does that justify it though!?

And then there was Aljazeera’s clip. They removed it as objections rose from everywhere but this is a copy of it. First of all for those who do not know, Iranians are not only Mullahs! They are a very limited portion of the community who are by no means the representatives of the real people. Please read more, get a tourist visa go see for yourself for crying out loud! What’s with all this ignorance?

Then I go to see a movie by a director that I admire and what hits me again? Iranians are shown as camel-riding, Arabian-speaking, dirty, weirdly bearded savages who have no civilization and are waiting for the Greek to bring them some! OH MY GOD! What is wrong with you people?! You’re killing me! I don’t know how many petitions it will take to show the world that we are located in the wrong region of the world at the wrong time! If only we had a powerful and truly all-Iranian government that would protect our identity, none of this would’ve happened… I’m so exhausted of defending my homeland, my identity, my history, and civilization. A civilization that was there soooooooo long before Alexander and his likes were even born. There were so many contradicting scenes in that movie. eg First Alexander tells his companions that he’s going to free countries from Persian reign so that they could embrace civilization and then when he conquers Babylon he’s looking over the city and says if only we could make Greece like this!!!!

Would you please study some more? We are tired and frustrated of being treated and pictured unfairly and wrongly. Do some research before opening your mouths, making a movie, publishing a reference...
